Hey There – Sean Hoskins with Accelerating Success. I hope you tuned into my last Blog titled Running on Empty. This is a six part series covering how our success and fulfillment in life is impacted by a number of factors including our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health. Today we focus on filling our Physical Tank.
Your energy level is directly related to your diet, exercise and sleep habits. I am going to leave you with some tips to improve all three areas for greater success and energy.
Let’s start with your sleep habits. As adults, we need about 7-9 hours of sleep for best performance. Don’t expect to shortchange the number of winks you get without paying for it the next day. Want to be more productive, creative, and generally fun to be around –Establish a routine of when you go to bed and when you wake up that allows you to rise and shine all day long.
Let’s dive into your diet. Are you making consistently good choices? Look – I love to have an in and out double-double just as much as the next guy, but that is the exception, not the rule. For better performance, establish a well balanced diet rich in nutrients that fuels your body. My tip – There is lot’s of advice on what to eat and what not to eat – Start with better portion control and more frequent healthy snacks to stave off starvation. Respect your body by fueling it, not destroying it.
Finally, fight fatigue through Exercise. Exercise boosts Energy. So opt for lacing up those tennis shoes instead of sucking down that Red Bull. The result will be a better mood, lasting energy and a healthier body. If your new to working out, start simple with a daily walk but pick a routine you can maintain consistently and start today.
So, Get some sleep, fuel your body with a well balanced diet, and start moving for greater success and fulfillment. Watch how the momentum from these positive changes starts to transform your life.
