Hey There – Sean Hoskins from Accelerating Success with my inaugural blog. Today I am posting from my beautiful big bear location.
Since we are so close to the New Year, I thought I would kick my blog off with New Years Resolutions. The failure rate is astonishing. People can’t wait for the new year to get those resolutions in place only to see them fade away about the same time winter is fading into spring.
The problem is not in the goal itself but the reason for the goal. The emotional connection that led to the creation of the goal. The Why? So this New Year I would encourage you to slow down and take a breath before attacking that list with energy and enthusiasm and really think about what you want to commit to in 2015 and why it is important to you. Asking the 5 why’s is a good way to get to the root of the reason. For example if you want to lose weight, you may find once you weave your way through the 5 why’s that you find your real why power is to live a longer healthier life to be around for your kids and grand kids. Now that is a pretty strong why.
So this year, I encourage you not to just make another resolution, but to make a resolution that will stick because you took the time to identify why it was important.
I hope this was helpful. Send me a note and let me know why you chose your resolutions.
Happy New Year!
